A Ring of Endless Light, Madeleine L’Engle, author
A funeral, memorial service, or celebration of life can incorporate your loved one’s religious and spiritual beliefs, as you choose. Services can take place at a chapel, funeral home, the family home, in a park or garden, at the lake, or any location that was special to them.
Funeral Officiant Services
Officiant services include in-person or virtual consultation prior to the service. I can assist with wording in the program and recommendations for music. I will arrive a half-hour early for sound check, to review setup, and visit with the immediate family and facility staff. I am happy to accommodate any last-minute changes to those speaking. I will perform the ceremony and facilitate the service, up to 2 hours.
Funerals with Graveside Officiant Services
After the funeral, I will travel to the grave site and deliver a brief service. This includes a welcome to friends and family, prayers and eulogy reading, and any special announcements.
Ash Scattering Officiant Services
Spreading of a loved one’s ashes is a very personal ceremony. Services can take place at home, in nature, or any location that was special to the deceased. The program is similar to the funeral service but is usually shorter in length, up to one hour.
Funeral officiant services are ideal for those that do not have a home church or desire a non-religious or spiritual service.

I will personalize the service to your needs and desires, but typically a funeral will follow this program:
No, you do not have to be ordained to officiate at a funeral service. There is no governing body, so there are no legal requirements. However, as a woman of faith, I am an ordained minister.
Some public parks require that you obtain a scattering permit. I can assist you with determining if a permit is required. For private property, it is best to get written permission from the land or homeowner. There are no regulations regarding ash scattering on uncontrolled public lands; you need to use your own judgment.
Yes, I will be happy to meet with your funeral director to ensure the service flows smoothly. I can meet in-person, via phone call, or a ZOOM meeting.
